Join the team at Freeport Community Library. The Town of Freeport is hiring a part-time Circulation Clerk to serve patrons at the circulation and youth services desks, support daily library operations, and help create a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors. 

This is a customer-facing role that requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay friendly and organized in a lively, fast-paced setting.  

What You'll Do: 

  • Serve patrons in person and by phone at the main circulation desk and the youth services desk 
  • Answer reference questions and assist patrons with their needs 
  • Check materials in and out and process holds 
  • Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loans 
  • Perform opening and closing procedures 
  • Shelve materials accurately 

What We're Looking For: 

  • Experience working with the public and exceptional customer service skills 
  • A friendly, helpful demeanor and the ability to handle detailed work amid frequent interruptions 
  • Comfort and confidence using library technology 
  • The ability to multitask and stay composed in an energetic, lively environment 
  • Prior library experience is a plus 

Part-time, 19 hours/week, $19.74/hr 

The current schedule includes weekday, evening, and seasonal Saturday hours.
