Posted 10/9/24: Freeport Community Library is currently accepting applications for a full-time Youth Services Librarian.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional experience working with children and parents/caregivers. Strong planning and organizational skills are essential for this role. A master’s degree in library and information science is preferred, but equivalent experience and training in a library setting may also be considered.
Responsible for managing collection development, service desk, and programming for the Youth Services department, the Youth Services Librarian will work directly with people of all ages, supervise two Assistant Librarians and one library clerk, and will work closely with staff and the director on strategic initiatives and library policy. The successful candidate must be able to work independently in a busy environment and be comfortable working with patrons of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
The vacancy is for a 38 hour/week position. The schedule includes a mix of weekday, evening, and occasional weekend hours based on the operating, staffing, and programming needs of the Library. Salary range starts at $23.92/hour and will be determined by level of experience and education. A generous benefits package is included.
