Above all else, we want to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. In order to do that, we have measures in place that we hope will promote good health for you and for the staff. We know we can count on our wonderful community to follow them.
Browsing is back!
FCL is happy to announce that starting the week of March 15th, the library is offering both curbside and open hours for browsing.
We have increased our service hours by opening at 10am all days of the week. The demand for curbside remains high, so we arealso offering evening and daytime pickup hours for those who are not comfortable or are unable to come into the building. We will continue to keep tabs on community transmission and will adjust our hours and access accordingly. We hope to offer more access to the building as pandemic conditions improve.
Our hours are:
Browsing hours (building is open to the public)
- Monday 10am-5pm
- Tuesday 10am-7pm
Curbside pickup hours (building is closed to the public)
- Wednesday 10am-7pm
- Thursday 10am-5pm
- Friday 10am-5pm
When you visit us:
Masks/face coverings are required whether you’re picking up for curbside or coming into the building. If you forgot your mask, we will provide you one. When you enter the building, you will be asked to use some hand sanitizer – you are free to wear latex/nitrile gloves, but you must sanitize them first.
We are limiting the number of people in the building to 15 patrons at a time. In order to safely accommodate as many folks as possible, each person will be limited to 30 minutes per visit.
It would be a good idea to bring your library card or a license we can use to look you up – it’s difficult for us all to hear very well through masks and plexiglass shields. Thank you in advance!
We quarantine returned materials for 24 hours. This means that items you’ve recently returned will still be checked out on your account until they’re out of quarantine. Please ignore any system-generated emails you might receive about those items – we can’t turn those emails off. No late fees will be collected until further notice. All returns must be put into a drop box before coming into the library.
Please keep in mind our plans may change at any time if circumstances require it. We will continue to follow the directions of the Town Office, CDC, and the governor.
Thank you for your support!
Curbside pickup instructions:
Please note that Curbside Pickup is not for placing hold requests. You should have received notification that your items are ready for curbside pickup prior to coming to the library.
Holds may also take longer to be available due to the quarantine period for interlibrary loan items, holidays, and reduced deliveries.
- Reserve items by calling 207-865-3307 or online. If the item you want to borrow is not available at FCL, you can request it from another library.
- Please expect at least 1-2 days or longer before holds are available for pickup. Due to the nature of our library system, the next available copy within Minerva is selected and you may not receive FCL’s copy.
- We will notify you when your items are ready – by email if we have it on file, or by phone if we do not.
- Call us at 207-865-3307 when you arrive at the library.
- We will place your items in a bag with your last name on it and will put it on a table in the pickup area in front of the main door.
- When you collect your items, please practice social distancing while in the pickup area!
Accessing FCL services from home:
We will continue to provide online events and pickup crafts for people of all ages, and we’re working hard to increase our digital offerings in cloudLibrary and other services. We’ve recently added access to Kanopy, FCL’s new on-demand video streaming service that features independent, international, classic, and documentary films.
Let us know if you need assistance navigating curbside pickup – we’re here to help! If you prefer to use curbside but have previously discovered new books by browsing the shelves, we can help there, too. We’ve created a resource to help find your next great read. We also have a What to Read Next form you can fill out if you want staff to make some book, audiobook, and/or DVD selections for you.
